Due to the construction of an express highway, an urban sprawl is anticipated in the Kajjansi area, along with the transformation of Kajjansi parish into a town council. What will be the effects of such developments?
The current active road network in Kajjansi parish is the Kampala-Entebbe road. However once the construction of Southern bypass is complete, the express highway and Bus Rapid Transport line will intersect in the Kajjansi area.
An urban sprawl is anticipated in the area, along with the transformation of Kajjansi parish into a town council. An impact study of the effects of such developments against the existing fabric of the Kajjansi area is necessary.
The development of a major transport node in the Kajjansi area directly affects the businesses, residences and institutions around that area. Thus there’s a need for a social and economic impact study of the effects this would have in the Kajjansi area that will transform it from a rural authority to an urban authority.
The case is currently at the stakeholder consultations/engagement stage. Redefining the scope includes the stakeholders input for the project. Meeting and workshops are scheduled to discuss these needs and visions for the project.
